-There will be no more than 2 teachers in the school at any time - one teaching in the front in either the larger room or the waiting area, and one teaching in the back at the grand piano. No other rooms will be able to be used. Schedules will be staggered so that students are not coming and going at the same time. The guidelines are to continue social distancing and to operate at no more than 50% capacity.
-Each teacher will be assigned 1 day and times that they will be allowed to teach at the school. The first preference of lesson times will be given to students who are not currently taking lessons virtually. Then, if there are additional times to fill, students who their teacher feels would benefit most from an in-person lesson will be the next in line. The guidelines are to operate at no more than 50% capacity and to continue telework as much as possible.
-Temperatures will need to be taken - the teachers will take their own when they arrive and when they leave, and they will take the temperature of every student as they arrive. We have a thermometer that can take temperature from a distance. The teachers will record the student's name and that the temperature was taken, not the actual temperature. This will also help with contact tracing in case someone is sick and we need to notify anyone else who has been in the building. The guidelines are that anyone with a temperature over 100.4 may not enter the building and there must be a plan in place to be able to notify anyone who may have come in contact with someone who is ill.
-Lessons will be scheduled with a 15 minute break in between (unless a teacher is seeing siblings one after the other) so that there is time to clean. Anything and everything that anyone touches will be wiped down - piano keys, chairs, doorknobs, light switches, etc. The guidelines are to modify business hours to allow for cleaning.
-The bathroom will only be available to teachers. Students will be asked to go before they arrive. Teachers are not equipped to clean the bathroom after anyone other than themselves uses it. Guidelines say that regular cleaning must take place.
-There will be no one allowed in the building who is not a teacher teaching on that day or a student who is taking a lesson. All parents and siblings will be asked to wait in the car during the lesson. No payments may be left inside - please continue to use the outside mailbox, even if you arrive and the school is "open." No teacher may schedule an in-person make-up lesson on another day. Make-ups will be done virtually. Guidelines are no more than 50% capacity, temperatures taken of employees and customers, knowledge of who is on the premises.
-Teachers and students will wear masks and stay 6ft apart. If a teacher is teaching piano and must demonstrate something on the instrument, it will be wiped clean before and after the demonstration. With wind students, the student may remove the mask to play. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN MASK!! The school will be responsible for hand sanitizer and wipes.
Virtual lessons will continue for any student who does not wish to come to the school or is not scheduled to come to the school.
In-person lessons will begin July 6th and your teacher will be reaching out to you to discuss whether you will have an in-person lesson or not.
